CMC Networks launches C-RAN solution
- 01 November 2018
CMC Networks, a global telecoms carrier, has launched its first SD-WAN offering CMC-Rapid Adaptive Network (C-RAN).
Leveraging its earlier partnership with 128 Technologies and the development of its128T Session Smart Networking Platform, C-RAN, delivers lower bandwidth overhead, zero trust security and dynamic real-time traffic management for its core and access SD-WAN implementations.
According to the company, a common challenge in the Africa and Middle Eastern region is network reliability and it suffers from frequent link outages result in inconsistent network access for wholesale customers. The offering is being touted as a first for Africa and a ‘game changer’ for CMC Networks as it enables it to support its customers in both long term and short term SDN and NFV-based network services. In addition, the solution will enable CMC to deliver four nines (99.99%) SLA in Africa, the elimination of SLA penalties that CMC Networks and other network providers are required to pay.
C-RAN has been strategically priced to allow the company to offer the solution to wholesale customers at competitive prices. At present, the Session Smart Networking Platform is available in 16 countries with plans to expand this to over the coming year. In the region CMC owns 104 global points of presence (PoPs) of which 78 PoPS are located in Africa.
As the need for SD-WAN-based services increase across the African continent, CMC customers can leverage off the next-gen SD-WAN capabilities, allowing for a smooth transition from legacy networking technologies to the rigorous demands next generation IP networks require.
