Founded in 1989, by local entrepreneur, Grant Walker, its evolution over the years has been vast and ever adherent to fluctuating expectations. February 2017, however, ushered in one of the Company’s most important milestones to date.

Nasdaq-listed, The Carlyle Group, a Global Alternative Asset Manager, with $200 billion of assets under management across 317 investment vehicles, acquired a 75% stake in this privately owned carrier in February of 2017. The transaction value exceeded $100 million (R1.4 billion). The founder and management team invested alongside Carlyle, driving growth and expansion of new products, solutions and markets ensuring CMC stays current and competitive in a very dynamic industry.

This latest investment compounded what was already the most extensive and largest Pan African network (AFNET) spanning across 50 Countries. In addition, CMC has an extensive Middle Eastern (MENET) and Western Asia (ASNET) network, which is extended via our wholesale partner programme into other regions .The CMC Carrier Interconnect Model enables delivery into the USA, Europe, UAE, India, Asia, Australia and varies African aggregation points. CMC provides its clients with a broad portfolio of Carrier Grade Network Solutions including: Ethernet, MPLS, DIA and Private Line Services.
